Investigation of Relativistic Multiparticle Interactions
(Project MARUSYA)

Scientific Programme:

Development of the MARUSYA set-up and experiments with the extracted beam of the Nuclotron.
Investigation of rare subthreshold and cumulative processes of hadronic production, antimatter production.
Investigation of spin phenomena in the transition regime and single spin asymmetries.
Construction of the ITELEF set-up for experiments with the internal targets of the Nuclotron to study the heavy and very low-energy fragments.

Expected main results in 2001:

Continuation of the measurements of very low energy fragments from Li to Si in the energy range of 1-150 MeV with internal targets (Al, Cu, Au, Pb) of the Nuclotron on the beams - p, d, C depends on energy 150-3500 MeV/nucleon (ITELEF experiment).
Completion of the upgrade of the magnetic and TOF systems of the MARUSYA spectrometer.
Measurements of invariant cross-sections of pions, kaons and antiprotons production with the external beams of the Nuclotron on the C, Cu, Ta targets at the angles 20-90. Creation of a prototype multiplicity detector and ZDC.
Investigation of the spin asymmetry in the reaction d+A h + X with the MARUSYA spectrometer.
