Scientific Programme:
Medico-biological and clinical research for the treatment of cancer patients with beams of heavy nuclear particles of the JINR Phasotron and for the accompanying diagnostics.

Expected main results in 2002:

Continuation of clinical researches on proton therapy of cancer patients in room No 1.
Delivering to room No 1 a therapeutic 160 MeV proton beam with a sharp distal fall-off Bragg peak and with a dose rate enough for radiotherapy.
Development and improvement of detectors and tools for clinical dosimetry of the medical hadron beams.
Investigations on the molecular spectra of gene mutations induced by radiation in animal and human cells.
