Scientific Programme:
Investigation of strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions of elementary particles and light nuclei at intermediate energies with the aim of determining symmetries and dynamics of the interactions. Development and construction of setups for experiments at accelerators (JINR phasotron, PSI meson factory, COSY proton synchrotron) for obtaining new information and testing the present theoretical views in the topics. Development of projects for new experiments and experimental methods for intermediate-energy physics.

Expected main results in 2010:

Upgrade of the PEN detector at PSI for measurement of the ⁺ e ⁺ decay branching ratio. Manufacture of drift chambers for positron tracking in the MEG detector.
Measurement with the ANKE setup using polarized beams of the accelerator COSY for study of the processes pd (pp)_s p and pp (pp)_s and subsequent analysis of the data. Data handling and analysis of the data on the reaction pp (pp)_s in the beam energy range of 0.3-0.8 GeV. The first stage of the experiments aimed to test the spin-filtering method for the PAX experiment.
Measurement of the deuteron radiactive capture rate in muonic deuterium and analysis of the experimental results.
Determination of branching ratios for reaction channels of positive and negative pion interactions with the helium nucleus at incident pion energies 70-150 MeV, including the reaction channel with emission of a photon and the channel with -isobar production, further processing of the data (CCD images of reaction events), further estimation of the muon neutrino mass from - decay events; performing runs at the LNP phasotron. Publication of results.
Data taking at the accelerators of JINR and PSI meson factory (Switzerland). Study of the influence of the axial pressure and impurities on the acceptor parameters in the diamond-like and wide-gap semiconductors. Study of the properties of superparamagnetic nanoparticles in a non-magnetic matrix.
Data taking in measurement of the ⁺ e ⁺ decay probability (PEN) and the search for the decay µ ⁺ e ⁺ (MEG). Processing of the experimental data.
