Theoretical and Experimental Investigations of the Electronuclear Method of Energy Production and Radioactive Waste Transmutation

Scientific Programme:

Theoretical and experimental investigations of the physics processes in the uranium and thorium targets irradiated with high-energy particle and nuclear beams. Investigations on the electronuclear method of energy production and radioactive waste transmutation.

Expected main results in 2001:

Measurement of the velocity of transmutaion reactions for actinides (Pa-231, Th-232, U-233) and constructional materials (AL, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu) in the beam of splitting protons and neutrons. Measuring the spectra of protons and neutrons generated in different targets (Pb, Pb-Bi) exposed to 660 MeV protons.
Preparation of technical documentation of the ЊЋ• fuel for the SAD installation. Development of a technological process of manufacturing ЊЋ• fuel tablets with an increased content of Pu O₂ and a modified geometry.
Development of a software complex for calculation of transport of particles and ions in multiplication media. Processing of experimental data obtained from accelerators of DLNP and LHE on neutrons and protons yield. Modelling of various variants of electronuclear systems and their details in connection with preparation of the project SAD.
