Scientific Programme:
An investigation of leading particles from proton-nucleus interactions at the experimental apparatus SMS MSU ("Scintillation magnetic spectrometer of Moscow State University") is used to illuminate the mechanism of strong interactions, and the spin role in it is proposed. In the framework of the programme of the investigation of interactions of polarized protons with nuclei, it is proposed to perform an experimental investigation of single-spin asymmetries of polarized proton scattering on intranuclear nucleons to be compared with analogous characteristics for scattering on free nucleons in the region of energies 1-4 GeV. In particular, the analyzing power is measured for p + A pL + p(n)R + X and d + A pL + p(n)R + X reactions. It permits one to study the spin nuclear structure, anomalous spin phenomena in strong interactions, and importance for the development of nuclear polarimetry. In the framework of an additional direction (for Nuclotron beams only), further research with the apparatus SMS MSU will be focussed on the problem of difference in the production mechanism for leading -mesons and protons.
Study of spin effects in elastic and inelastic np scattering and in the decay of atomic nuclei (SPIN).
