Information, Computer and Network Support of the JINR's Activity

• Development of the JINR external telecommunications: a) work on creation of the high-speed JINR-Moscow channel, b) involvement in the creation of dedicated data links with the leading research centres in Europe and the USA, c) increase of the bandwidth of the channel for JINR in frames of the Russian interdepartmental program, d) study of the corporate network project for JINR and its Member States.
  
  
• Provision of operational stability of the JINR local area network. Minimization of a restoring time at failures of some network elements. Implementation of the first stage of a selected variant of the JINR Backbone on the basis of Gigabit Ethernet.
  Carrying out work to increase the level of security of the JINR local area network. Organization of monitoring the input and output traffics. Creation of a specialized cluster of WWW and proxy servers with the purpose of protection of the JINR Backbone from unauthorized access.
  
  
• Development of the Central Computer Complex (CCC) of JINR: creation of a system for monitoring the operation of the CCC nodes, development of an approach for creation of multiprocessor applications, involvement in cooperation with DESY and INFN in the APE-next project, creation of a computing cluster on the basis of the MYRINET technology.
  
  
• Maintenance of the extended backup system on the basis of the HP Open View Omnibackup package. Development of technologies of collective use (JINR-RINP MSU-ITEP) of the robotized ATL library in the LINUX environment, testing of the CASTOR system.
  Prolongation of works on the creation of the distributed regional centre of data processing in Russia for experiments in CERN (ALICE, ATLAS, and CMS): a) maintenance on a LIT PC-farm of the LINUX Red Hat 6.x operating system and current versions of Anaphe (LHC++), Objectivity/DB, ROOT, ORCA, b) participation in mass events generation sessions for CMS experiment, c) adaptation and maintenance of new Anaphe (LHC++), ROOT, GEANT4 versions for SUN SOLARIS and Windows/ NT platforms.
  Maintenance and development of the JINR's central servers. Standardization of software and centralized support of the operating systems and program packages used at JINR.
  Development and maintenance of the program JINRLIB library for UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms, its upgrade at the expense of information on the programs created or adapted at JINR. Maintenance of new versions of general-purpose program libraries (NAG, CPC, CERNLIB) and systems of analytical calculations (Reduce, MAPLE, Mathematica).
  Development and maintenance of main WWW/FTP servers of JINR and LIT. Maintenance of databases of a scientific and administrative profile. Creation and maintenance of computer systems of the administrative-financial activity of JINR (together with STD AMS JINR) and CERN (participation in CERN activities), as well as MEPhI and other universities (with the involvement of young people). Filling bibliographic and factographic databases with information from JINR in the framework of international projects. Development and maintenance of the archive of documentation and software on the modern middleware technologies.
  
  
• Carrying out work on creation of a GRID-segment of JINR in frames of the Russian GRID structure: a) adaptation and maintenance of the program complex for GRID technologies (LINUX Red Hat, SuSE 6.4, HP-UX 11.0, Globus Toolkit, GDMP, CONDOR); b) AFS system management; c) realization of a certification procedure for registration of the GRID users at JINR); d) system development of tools for GRID monitoring; e) data replications processing with SINP MSU and ITEP.
  
  
• Support of the hard- and software complex of UC JINR on the basis of WindowsNT server. Support of the training process at the UC JINR, International University of Nature, Society, and Man "Dubna", MIREA; working out of training courses on advanced information technologies.
