Competitions in Memory of Academician Flerov

On 5 March, the XXVI Open Dubna Swimming Competitions in memory of Academician Georgii N. Flerov ended in the "Arkhimed" swimming pool. 2 March is the birthday of the outstanding scientist, founder and first director of JINR's Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, a great lover and promoter of sport swimming. The year 2022 marks the 109th anniversary of his birth.

This, as well as G.N.Flerov's enormous contribution to world science and to the development of sports swimming in Dubna (Flerov was actively involved in the construction of the swimming pool "Arkhimed") was mentioned on 4 March by Andrei Tamonov, Head of JINR Social Infrastructure Management Office and Chairman of the Board of Deputies of Dubna, and by Vladimir Lomakin, Director of JINR's Sports Complex and "Arkhimed" swimming pool, who spoke at the opening of the competition. They handed a badge of the third sports category to young Dubna swimmer Yurii Knyazev, who had fulfilled the corresponding standard at the previous competition. Congratulations to Yurii, his parents and coach Igor Berezutsky!

The start of the heats was given by Sergei Yegorov, chief judge of the competition. More than two hundred swimmers from seven teams from Dubna, Moscow and Moscow Region cities took the start of the competition. Athletes from the swimming clubs Masters "105th Element", Redbee Masters, Tsunami, Force Lane, as well as Dubna veteran swimmers and students of Dubna University, also took part in the swim.

The competition program includes a swimming biathlon. It was extremely nice to see graduates of the Dubna Sports School at the competition - Master of Sports of Russia in swimming Danila Sobolev, candidates for Master of Sports Nikita Yurutin, Olga Sereda, Uliana Ivanova, Yurii Rudenko, Pavel Ovchinnikov, Aleksandr Mal'nev, Kirill Shcherbakov and others. Some of them took part in the competition and became winners and prize-winners, while others just supported their teammates.

According to the sum of points in the swimming biathlon, the winners of the competition are Irina Migulina, Maria Alikina, Olga Dunina, Svetlana Bazykina, Yana Tarabrina, Milena Veselova, Yelizaveta Mal'neva (Taldom), Anastasia Gaidukova (Taldom), Alesia Kiselevich (Dolgoprudnyi), Aleksandr Antipov (Solnechnogorsk), Sergei Iliaev (Solnechnogorsk), Sergei Gusev, Mikhail Petrov, Aleksandr Mal'nev, Nikita Yurutin, Danila Sobolev, Matvei Leshchenko (Dolgoprudnyi), Vladislav Makhnov, Matvei Kudryashov, Pavel Zyatev.
