Delegation of NAS of Belarus at JINR:
course for cooperation extension

On 7 June, Academician Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus Alexander Shumilin met with JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov. The parties discussed possible ways for extending cooperation, in particular, in the production of superconducting resonators. The meeting took place within the visit to Dubna of a delegation of officials representing leading scientific organisations of the Republic of Belarus. The goal of the visit was to get acquainted with the JINR infrastructure and search for new contacts with JINR scientists.

At the meeting, JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov noted long-standing ties between JINR and Belarus. "Physical and mathematical schools of the Republic of Belarus and JINR are strong, which will allow us to advance in joint tasks. This will also make it possible to create a facility having no analogues world wide," he highlighted. It refers to the Accelerator Complex based on superconducting resonators discussed on the eve of the meeting at the joint meeting of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Economic Policy and the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly on Budget and Finance.

Head of the Belarusian delegation Alexander Shumilin noted that both parties may be interested in medical, laser, and microwave developments. "Belarus is actively developing medicine, including radiation medicine, which may be a perfect intersection of interests of JINR researchers and representatives of Belarusian organisations," Alexander Shumilin highlighted.

The Union State is also actively working on developments in the fields of laser technology, including for measuring angle inclinations. The idea to use lasers at JINR facilities was proposed. In this regard, guests expressed their special interest in precision laser inclinometers developed at DLNP. Participants of the meeting also discussed testing of radio resistance of technical components. In this field, the cooperation enhancement is possible between Belarusian institutes and FLNR JINR. It was noted that load and heat flow monitoring sensors made by the Minsk Institute of Radiomaterials may be useful in the future at the SPD experiment, whereas a sensitive gas monitoring system may be used at the MPD facility.

The parties agreed to organise further visits to discuss the details of cooperation in designated subjects.

It should be reminded that the delegation of the Union State included representatives of the Stepanov Institute of Physics of NAS of Belarus, the Minsk Institute of Radiomaterials, the Centre for Geophysical Monitoring of NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Belarus, Science and Production Centre "Technology", the Сentre "Fundamental Interaction and Astrophysics" of the Stepanov Institute of Physics of NAS of Belarus.
