These days, it is fifty years since E.M.Molchanov has come to work in the editorial office of the weekly "Dubna". Without the knowledge of the hero of the event, the employees and friends of the editorial office have decided to tell the Institute community about this, for the most fruitful years of Evgeny Makarievich, as well as his creative energy and inspiration are related to the service in the newspaper. And we want to make this message to be a match for our boss - easily, modestly, with a sense of friendly respect.Fifty-year tourDubna becomes a tourist centre. Large white motor ships moor at the Volga embankment, crowds of passengers fall out of them and are guided to the landmark places of the city. The guides take them to the monuments of outstanding scientists, pay attention to the names of the streets, outline the history of both Dubna itself and the Joint Institute that has made it famous. A two-hour "jog", what can you do, leaves a kind of mosaic, one might say, a souvenir picture in memory and it is even layered with visiting museums, monasteries, Stalin's bunker in other cities ... This, alas, is inevitable - the costs of mass culture. However, the discerning guest (let's add - the reader, the viewer) needs more. He needs, on the one hand, intelligible, accessible information, on the other hand, it must be reliable, preferably obtained first-hand. It is not an easy task to speak about science, about scientists both clearly and accurately. How important and necessary skillful "guides", navigators in an attractive, but increasingly difficult to understand scientific world are! Evgeny Molchanov has been doing this kind of work for half a century. Articles and interviews in the press, television programs, books - everything adds up, weaves into the annals of the science city, into a voluminous multi-colored canvas. News about scientific discoveries, portraits of scientists, reports from conferences, lyrical stories about the city and even "mushroom hunting" - all genres are represented in the journalistic palette of Evgeny Makarievich. In addition, not every athlete is able to become a good coach, not every actor can be a director. But E. M. Molchanov has been managing to lead, albeit a small, but very energetic creative team of the Institute weekly for many years. In fact, this is a departmental publication, but the "light feathers" of both the editor himself and his employees allowed to make many - dozens - of publications the property of both central magazines and newspapers. It is important for Dubna and JINR to completely and objectively present themselves and their significance in the public mind. Evgeny Molchanov has made and is making a significant contribution to this laborious undertaking, if you like, to the cultural mission. Oh, to publish his books with a large circulation and put them on the shelves at the pier - that would be advertising! Aleksandr Leonovich, member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR
