Christmas tournament

On 5 and 6 January, the JINR Sports Club hosted a Christmas tournament dedicated to the memory of RAS Academician Dmitry Shirkov.

Dmitry Vasilievich Shirkov, an outstanding theorist, played chess and tennis, was a regular in the JINR Swimming Pool "Archimedes", headed the Water Ski Federation, was a skier and mountaineer. Tennis players from Dubna, JINR staff members, children and grandchildren of the Academician participated in the tournament.

JINR Director Assistant for the development of biomedical projects Grigory Shirkov and Director of SINP MSU Eduard Boos came to cheer for the family and take part in the award ceremony. By tradition, Peter and Nikolay Shirkovs played doubles.

Winners in men's doubles: 1st place - Alexey Isaev and Sergey Levshenkov; 2nd place - Denis Novikov and Igor Novikov; 3rd place - Oleg Koshcheev and Victor Boos.

Winners in women's doubles: 1st place - Tatyana Lyubavina and Maria Rudova; 2nd place - Yulia Zaitseva and Anna Sumbaeva; 3rd place - Lyudmila Avramenko and Svetlana Matkova.
