"Who are you, Dr. Baade?"A new book "Who are you, Dr. Baade?" by the Dubna historian Nikolay Prislonov has been published. It reveals the main stages of the life and work of the famous German aircraft designer Brunolf Baade. He headed the design of the first Soviet jet aircraft in the USSR in Ivankovo settlement (today, the city of Dubna) in 1947-1953. Later, he became one of the designers of the first and only passenger aircraft of the German Democratic Republic. Based on documentary sources, the practical activity of the Soviet state in the development of aircraft engineering in the first post-war years is shown and the work of one of the oldest aviation enterprises in Dubna, the Dubna Machine-Building Plant during this period is characterized in the book. The book provides an interesting description of the life and living conditions of German specialists forced to work far from their homeland, designing new models of aviation technology.
