"Two on a swing". Return!

On 23 September, Tatyana Arntgolts and Grigory Antipenko will go on the stage of the JINR Cultural Centre "Mir" in the play "Two on a swing" based on the play of the same name by William Gibson. Seven years ago, this production collected sold-out in Dubna. On the eve of the tour, Tatyana Arntgolts spoke about what theatergoers would see.

Tatyana, a play for two - what is its peculiarity for actors, the role of partnership, the importance of empathy?

- The peculiarity is that it is a play for two actors. There are not many such plays in world literature. Here the role of partnership and empathy is certainly important for this is a love story and only by experiencing empathy can the actors in this play create a true sense of the full range of feelings of the characters for the audience.

What has the play become over the years of its existence? After all, it's alive, different every time...

- Over the years, the play grows up and becomes wiser along with us. Fortunately, this play allows for growing up, the story has a fairly wide age period...

Do you think the play gives the audience the opportunity to see themselves in it and to draw conclusions? Or not to see - and to draw conclusions is no less valuable?

- It is not for nothing that the play "Two on a swing" is one of the best works of world literature; it is about us and about each of us. At different periods of life, people that are also our audience, often played the role of one or another character, including a wife. Therefore, the play undoubtedly has had an enthusiastic response from the public for many years and the play is also interesting to the actors for its timelessness. It's about the eternal. About a man and a woman.
