At the end of the year Landing on Kamchatka: second inclinometer installedSuccessful scientific and technological cooperation between the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems of JINR is carried out with the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Centre "Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences" and Kamchatka State University named after Vitus Bering. In December, a group of our employees including K.S.Bunyatov, A.V.Krasnoperov, A.M.Kuzkin, R.V.Ni and A.A.Pluzhnikov, under Head of Sector No.1 of Laser Metrology of the Department of Research and Development Innovations of DLNP Mikhail Vasilievich Lyablin arrived in Kamchatka to install the second Compact Precision Laser Inclinometer (CPLI) with the aim of registering deformation processes in the earth's crust and developing technologies for monitoring geodynamic processes. During the visit, Mikhail Vasilievich held two scientific seminars at the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Centre "Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences" and at the Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, based on the results of the first one, established a year ago by the CPLI. The seminar was a success. Of course, there were clarifying questions from geophysicists, but in general, specialists received the first results of the device in Kamchatka with great interest. The usefulness of the device in observing microseismic phenomena was also noted. The Russia-1 Kamchatka TV channel published a report about the visit of our employees and the work of the CPLI in Kamchatka. A number of meetings were held with the Acting Rector of the Vitus Bering University O.A.Rebkovets, Director of the KB FRC EGS RAS D.V. Chebrov and with the Head of the JINR Information Centre at the University D.I.Israpilov. Our employees completed the maintenance and modernization of CPLI No.1, installed and commissioned CPLI No.2 in the seismic chambers of the Federal Research Centre "Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences". Scientific cooperation between JINR, Kamchatka State University named after Vitus Bering and the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Centre "Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences" currently develops successfully. The main work will focus on studying the collaboration of two CPLIs, on the development of a PLI containing mainly Russian components, with low (less than 2 W) power consumption, adapted for operation in field conditions. The business programme of the visit was successfully completed. The team did an excellent job, professionalism and teamwork steadily increase from trip to trip.
