On 8 April, Acting Rector of Kamchatka State University named after Vitus Bering Olga REBKOVETS visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. During the meeting, issues of scientific cooperation and the implementation of new educational programmes were discussed. As part of the visit, Rector of KamSU visited the laboratories of the Institute and learnt about the key objects of the scientific infrastructure of JINR.

At the meeting, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov emphasized the significance of carrying out a wide range of scientific investigations in unique ecosystems and biodiversity-rich territories of the Kamchatka Territory and also spoke about the history of cooperation between the university and the Institute.

"In 2022, the JINR Information Centre started functioning on the basis of Kamchatka University. During this time, our parties developed strong professional relationships. Support of the partners from the Far Eastern region in the fields of science and education is one of the key tasks for the Institute. JINR is always open to developing strategic cooperation with higher educational institutions and is ready to assist in organizing scientific and educational activities in the Kamchatka Territory," Director of the Joint Institute highlighted.

KamSU Rector Olga Rebkovets noted the successful experience of the JINR Information Centre in organizing scientific schools and other educational events. There is a tendency in the region to increase the number of students that choose physics and mathematics majors. She also presented the scientific research areas that will be implemented at the university.

JINR UC Director Dmitry Kamanin that was present at the meeting, highlighted the high efficiency of the JINR Information Centre at KamSU and spoke about the UC's future plans for work with this Centre. In turn, Head of the JINR IC at KamSU Daniyal Israpilov spoke about plans to develop contacts with JINR partners through the IC, in particular, about joint plans with Mexican scientists to study volcanoes included in the region of the Pacific volcanic ring of fire in Russia and Mexico. As a result of detailed discussions, the parties noted the current potential for cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Within the framework of the visit, Rector of KamSU visited scientific facilities in the laboratories of the Institute and the engineering workshop in JINR University Centre.
