In Memory of Professor Yu.A.Budagov

A book "Yulian Aramovich Budagov... Promised to live to 100 years" by DLNP Director V.A.Bednyakov has been published in the JINR Publishing Department.

Yu.A.Budagov has made a significant contribution to the development of large experimental facilities and the obtaining of physical results of fundamental scientific significance. He was the initiator and direct supervisor of cooperation between JINR and a range of Russian heavy industry enterprises with the Superconducting Supercollider Laboratory in Dallas (USA). A unique metrological culture of precision laser assembly of large-scale massive detectors has been developed and high-precision construction of a large calorimetric complex for the ATLAS facility has been carried out, headed by Yu.A.Budagov.

Yu.A.Budagov was one of the initiators of JINR's participation in the research programme of the International Linear Collider.

In recent years, Yu.A.Budagov has paid special attention to the development of a new generation of precision laser metrology. The results of the scientific activity of Yu.A.Budagov have been published in well-known scientific periodicals of the USSR, Russia, Western Europe and the USA.
