Spring. MLIT. School

On 18 – 19 April, the JINR Spring School of Information Technologies took place at the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies. The School was held in a mixed format. It became the second stage in a series of the JINR information technologies schools. Students from several universities presented reports on various topics. At the end of the School, they were admitted to speak at the GRID’2023 international conference.

The first stage of the School was held in November. There scientific groups were formed, including students, their supervisors from universities, and Institute staff members for joint work in JINR projects. 19 students from St. Petersburg University, the North Ossetian State University named after K.L.Khetagurov, the University “Dubna”, Tula State University, the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia took part in the School.

MLIT JINR Scientific Leader Vladimir Korenkov opened the School. “At the Autumn School, more than 20 students decided to write their Master’s and Bachelor’s theses about the research areas of our Institute. Today they are presenting the results of their six-month work,” he said. In total, School participants presented 18 reports on the following areas “Computing for SPD”, “Mathematical modeling, numerical methods, and algorithms for solving applied problems of JINR”, “Development of plug-ins for the JINR website”, “Machine learning in plant disease detection tasks”.

At the closing of the School, the heads of the School’s research areas from JINR and universities appreciated the high level of students’ involvement in JINR projects, as well as the high level of preparation of their scientific papers. They recommended combining reports within one topic and making one general report from the scientific group at the youth section of the 10th International Conference “Distributed Computing and Grid Technologies in Science and Education” (GRID’2023). The Conference will be held in Dubna from 3 – 7 July 2023.

The JINR School of Information Technologies is aimed at involving young specialists in solving problems in various fields of science using modern information technologies, as well as the introduction to the JINR programme.
