Jubilees Meeting essential tasksOn 24 April, the Laboratory of Information Technologies solemnly celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Advisor to Director of MLIT, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Igor Viktorovich PUZYNIN.Colleagues and friends spoke with congratulations and memories of the hero of the day, Z.A.Sharipov (MLIT), V.S.Melezhik (BLTP), V.P.Tsvetkov (Tver State University) made scientific reports. "We have a solemn day today, Igor Viktorovich Puzynin celebrates his 85th jubilee," Scientific Leader of the Laboratory V.V.Korenkov opened the seminar. "Talking about him is both simple and difficult. He has been working at the Institute for 63 years, he has always been at the centre of all events, he is one of the most famous specialists in the field of computational and applied mathematics. When R. Pose was elected director of the laboratory, I.V.Puzynin became his deputy and afterwards - director. His role in the development of mathematical models of computational mathematics and computational physics in our laboratory is extremely important. Moreover, all the techniques that have been developed under his supervision are not abstract-theoretical, they are used in meeting the most important tasks of the Institute. He has brought up a galaxy of students, several doctors of science, including for Bulgaria and Mongolia (two of them later became academicians of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences). The contribution of the hero of the day to the development of the scientific elite not only of JINR, but also of its Member States, is enormous. Igor Viktorovich Puzynin headed the work on mathematical and software support for theoretical calculations under the Programme of research on the phenomenon of muon catalysis, approved by a joint decision of the SCAE and the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was the co-leader of the institute-wide theme "Theoretical and experimental investigations of the electronuclear method for generating energy and transmuting radioactive waste." Currently, he is in charge of the development of mathematical models and methods, algorithms and programmes for the numerical investigations of processes that occur when materials are irradiated using particle beams.
E.A.Airyan, S.V.Shmatov, V.V.Korenkov, T.A.Strizh are congratulating the hero of the day "I am happy that I can personally congratulate Igor Viktorovich on his jubilee," JINR Vice-Director L.Kostov said having read out the order of JINR Directorate. "He is a great friend of Bulgaria, we highly appreciate and love him for everything he has done to ensure experimental physics in our country." "When I just started working at the Institute," Director of MLIT S.V.Shmatov added his memoirs to the official congratulations, "I have more than once heard your surname, the way you invariably stick to your line. You headed the Laboratory in difficult times for the country and the Institute, and it is thanks to you that today we have good specialists in the Laboratory that are able to meet current issues and all the conditions for meeting these issues." "I have had many teachers, but Igor Viktorovich is the main teacher," T.A.Strizh (MLIT) said. "If I hadn't met him in 1983, I wouldn't work in the laboratory today. He takes care of everyone, he took care of me, Igor Viktorovich and Taisiya Petrovna - a team that supports many students." Ya. Busha (MLIT) presented the hero of the day with a painting by the Slovak artist M.Bali as a token of gratitude, respect and love. Bulgarian colleagues I.Khristof (Sofia University), N.Bogdanova (Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy) congratulated the hero of the day via video link and S.Dimova said: "We love you, respect you and wish you new successes in science. We very much hope for our further cooperation that will flourish. Thank you for your friendship!" E.I.Lysenko (MLIT) spoke about the teaching activity of the hero of the day at MIREA and V.P.Tsvetkov - at Tver State University. Director of the Pushchino branch of the M.V.Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.D.Lakhno recalled the long-term and fruitful cooperation with I.V.Puzynin and L.A.Sevastyanov (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia) spoke about scientific interaction and friendship between families. "For many years, the hero of the day has been cooperating with the institutions of Slovakia," M.Gnatich (BLTP) said, "but I want to note his human qualities, something attractive emanates from him, a person feels comfortable in his presence. Thank you, Igor Viktorovich, that I have met you!" There were congratulatory letters and telegrams from the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the Slovak State University (Kosice), the Committee on Science of the Republic of Armenia, the National Laboratory after A.I.Alikhanyan (Yerevan Physics Institute). From a number of laboratory colleagues that "love you, respect you and everyone has his own story, how you have employed him and contributed to success", E.V.Zemlyanaya congratulated the hero of the day, wishing to come to work for many more years, "look with a wise squint and joke as much as you can." E.A.Airyan that has been working with Igor Viktorovich for 25 years, recalled that it was he who was the first at JINR and one of the first in Russia to introduce the phrase computational physics into use. R.V.Polyakova congratulated the hero of the day on her own behalf and some colleagues from VBLHEP, whom he supported during perestroika and currently supports. A.G.Zaikina noted the love of the hero of the day for our smaller brothers and an amazing sense of humor that did not disappear during the period when he was Director of the Laboratory. In response, I.V.Puzynin thanked everyone warmly for their congratulations. "Indeed, the laboratory, as V.V.Korenkov said, is our home and we are glad that young people have come here. I am pleased to note the activity of Vladimir Vasilievich that brought the laboratory about, prepares a scientific shift. May the laboratory develop successfully in the future! And all the reports that were made then somehow concerned the hero of the day - he helped someone develop the topic, suggested something or introduced him to a new area. Olga TARANTINA, |
