Lecture hall of the JINR Scientists' Club

What will the new world be like?

On 29 February, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia Konstantin Kurylev delivered a lecture-discussion "Development of a new world order: potential scenarios and opportunities".

The topic of the development of a new world order has remained in the focus of attention of international affairs experts for many years. In academic and political circles there is an active search for formulae that are most capable of reflecting the contours of that new world, towards which we have been moving lately. What reality might be like in a few years and what positions Russia could take in these configurations, the speaker discussed with the lecture participants, scientists and employees of the Joint Institute.

Lectures by K.Kurylev
The scientist noted: what currently happens in Russia and abroad is a reflection of the development of a new world order. An important role in global transformation processes is played by traditional and rising great powers - those states that have the necessary potential to realize national interests. Will the world be bipolar, multipolar or unipolar, what is a "world majority", where did this concept come from and who first used it, how this term is currently used, Professor Konstantin Kurylev told the audience about all this in detail.

According to him, the process of developing a new world order is constantly dynamic and is far from complete. A number of investigations are currently carried out, including at the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia that allowed to draw certain possible scenarios.

The meeting between the lecturer and the audience was held within the framework of the new project "Lecture Hall of the JINR Scientists' Club", aimed at the cooperation of scientists in the natural sciences and humanities. Since the beginning of the project, both parties have already noted the originality and usefulness of this format.
