Summing up 40 years of work

The book "Physics of solid-state photomultipliers", written for the 40th anniversary of the scientific activity of Ziraddin Yagub-Ogly Sadigov on the development of semiconductor avalanche photodetectors has been published in the JINR Publishing Department.

The monograph is dedicated to the physics of micropixel avalanche photodiodes (MAPDs), also called silicon photomultiplier tubes (Si-PMTs). The development stages and physical mechanisms of operation of the most promising designs of these devices are briefly reviewed. Techniques for improving the amplitude and time characteristics of MAPDs are discussed, as well as the possibility of developing other avalanche devices, such as avalanche single-photon CCD matrices and avalanche amplifiers of electrical signals.

The book is intended for specialists involved in the development, research and application of semiconductor detectors and is available on the website of the JINR Publishing Department.
