Models of the NICA accelerator complex and the Baikal-GVD telescope were exhibited at VDNKh
The interactive exhibition of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science "Decade of Science and Technology" within the framework of the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia" has been replenished with new exhibits. 25 new interesting objects have been added, including, for example, models of the NICA accelerator complex, the Baikal-GVD deep-sea neutrino telescope and others. Thus, the interactive area now features more than 60 exhibits.
The updated exhibition was opened by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov. It was attended by Assistant to the President of Russia Andrey Fursenko, schoolchildren and students of six Moscow universities.
In each of the halls, Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science spoke about the key breakthroughs of Russian science in the field of ecology, space exploration, energy, medicine and other sectors. Today, Russia is one of the ten world leaders on a scale of the scientific and technological complex, the amount of funding for science and the accumulated intellectual potential.
For instance, five megascience projects that have no analogues in the world or surpass the current facilities in their quality characteristics are implemented in the country. It is expected that by 2032, six more new facilities of this class will be constructed.
Minister explained what the Baikal-GVD deep-sea neutrino telescope is. Using it, scientists are going to study processes with enormous energy release that occurred in the Universe in the distant past.
Valery Falkov noted that science in Russia is one of the central priorities for the development of the country. "Science plays a key role in ensuring national security and the competitiveness of the Russian economy. Today, we enter the third year of the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the role of scientific knowledge will only increase. Our exhibition is conceived and designed taking into account the most important challenges facing the country. I invite you to learn about these unique achievements," he said.
Andrey Fursenko emphasized that the Decade of Science and Technology has already given a lot for the development of the country.
"Science develops, including through the hands of young people. And it proves that despite very great achievements, we have even more results ahead," he noted.
The exhibition "A decade of science and technology" includes 14 thematic halls reflecting the achievements of Russian universities and scientific institutes and demonstrates the basic challenges that the academic community faces today. Exhibition objects are located in pavilion No. 57 at VDNKh. In total, since November 4, the opening of the exhibition-forum, the exhibition of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has been visited by about 24 thousand guests.
University weeks are regularly held here, where representatives of higher education and research institutes from different regions of Russia give lectures and talk about the achievements of our scientists. Students and young scientists can learn more about popular science tourism routes and scientific volunteering projects.
